John Z. Lin, MD, MS, MBA – Managing Director - IICC


Dr. John Lin has served as the managing principal of Wellin Investment Inc. since 1994 until the present. His current responsibilities include project development, technologies transferring with licensing, strategy formulation, corporate fund-raising, venture capital investment, and alliance formation. Dr. Lin has also has served as a director with Life Science of Sun & Sun Capital Holding Pte. Ltd., Singapore.  In March, 2007, Dr. Lin joined IICC as a Managing Director with a special focus on both Medical and Health issues.  He also has considerable expertise in China and Asia.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Lin worked at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from 1989 to 1994. He also conducted cancer research at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, and also at the Baylor College of Medicine and University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston for six years. Dr. Lin was founder of the VGB group and has managed the import and export development and strategic planning for the company.

He has clearly demonstrated the ability to efficiently prioritize a broad range of responsibilities in order to achieve the maximum level of operating effectiveness. Since 1994, Dr. Lin has also been involved in several start-up companies which include Cell-Point LLC, Global Cardiac Monitors LLC, Galatek Inc, Intechip LLC, VGB Group LLC, Biowin LLC, Texpharm Inc and others. As a managing director and executive officer of VGB Group LLC, Dr. Lin was in charge of its daily operations. He negotiated with the business partner’s executive officer, met with investors (or financial “angels”) as well as inventors with the goal of developing technologies for commercial application. Dr. Lin is an organized, take-charge professional with exceptional follow-through abilities with solid detail-orientated experience. He is fully capable of planning and overseeing projects from initial concept to a successful conclusion. Utilizing his unique set of entrepreneurial and managerial skills, he has helped to manage and oversee many successful joint ventures in China. Dr. Lin also has extensive experience in working with R&D projects, and has also worked closely in the manufacturing, marketing and sales and investor relationship
aspects of many projects.

Dr. Lin graduated from Shanghai Fudan University Medical School with an MD degree in 1983. He earned an MS degree from Peking Union Medical College in 1988 and an MBA degree from the University of Houston, Victoria, Texas, in 2003. He was also selected as the chairman of board of the US-China Federal Association of Business Councils; a non-profit organization based Houston, Texas. Dr. Lin is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
