Profile – Charles Bunn



Charles Bunn has been associated with Institutional Investors Consulting Company and is a Managing Director of that firm.  He is also the founder and CEO of Wind Star Farms, Inc. a company which is very much involved in Wind and Solar projects.  Charles is also the key IICC expert in the area of renewable energy.


Born and raised on a horse ranch in Montana, young Mr. Bunn learned early what work was.  Mr. Bunn’s love for aviation earned him his pilot license at age 16 before he could drive.  Mr. Bunn’s family moved to San Diego where he graduated from High school with honors.  He immediately joined the US Army and earned his flight wings flying helicopters.

After a tour of duty in Vietnam, South Korea as well as many locations in the USA, Mr. Bunn left the Army to pursue engineering.

In San Diego he went to work for General Dynamics as a lead technician working on Flight Simulators, Navigation Guidance Systems and Special Projects.  General Dynamics granted him a full scholarship to San Diego State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electoral Engineering, Associate Degree in Aeronautical Design and a minor in Airport Management.

Through General Dynamics Mr. Bunn worked with:

 Ford Aerospace to install and bring online the 30 meter Deep Space dish in Barstow,  California.
 Strongberg Data-graphics and developed the first micro-fish duplicator machine used in the Library of Congress in Washington, DC

Through Tetra Tech a General Dynamics “Think Tank” used by the Pentagon to develop new ways of doing things, Mr. Bunn worked with the Secret Service, DEA, ATF, FBI and State law enforcement to develop GPS tracking systems to follow Equipment, Drugs and Money.

Mr. Bunn joined Hydro Products as a Project Manager to expand the product line of underwater camera systems.  Mr. Bunn led a team that developed the first Silicon Intensified Target {S.I.T.} Camera which allowed divers to see in total darkness underwater.  With a grant form the Department of Defense Mr. Bunn’s team design, built and tested the first underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV).  Mr. Bunn’s team commercialized this design and built and sold to the offshore oil companies as a way to be “Diver-Less” below 140 ft to 3,000 ft.  This one product allowed the oil companies to start drilling in deeper water with this new tool.

With an opportunity to expand this oil & Gas programs for the major oil companies, Mr. Bunn moved his family to Houston, Texas.

Mr. Bunn joined Oceaneering International to promote the ROV’s to the oil Industry.  Even in the years of the oil bust, maintenance and exploration continued.  After 10 years with Oceaneering International and Mr. Bunn holding jobs such as; Project Manager, Operation Manager, Gulf Coast Manager, VP of R&D and finally International Manager, the company had a fleet of 50 ROV’s and worked on 70% of all underwater construction worldwide.
Mr. Bunn joined Texas Co-Generation to manage operations as a full partner. The company installations were in the natural gas to power generation.  Installing about 20 projects a year for the commercial and industrial use.  Project to include:

In Southern California Mr. Bun’s team installed more then 4,600 Wind Turbines from 150KW to 1.5MW in size over a six year period.

Mr. Bunn co-founded Capital Funding Trust to provide funding for some of these projects.  Mr. Bunn has established and maintains an investor list of over 10,000 contacts and a personal database of pension funds and venture capitalist worldwide numbering over 50,000.

Mr. Bunn founded Wind Star Farms to develop wind farms in West Texas and New Mexico. He has four Parks under development:

These four wind farms are developed using conventional Wind Turbine design.  The New Mexico units will come online winter  2009.  The Texas wind farms will come on line summer 2009.

Mr. Bunn founded Texas Solar Systems to manufacture and develop stand alone and commercial solar projects using the “Sterling Engine a Hydrogen piston driven generator, that only requires focused sunlight.  Through a license to manufacture, Texas Solar Systems will complement the wind farm development by using the same lease land locations to provide a minimum of 6 hours per day per year of power.
